Whether you are guiding a raft professionally or running the river for fun, it is your responsibility to be prepared in responding quickly and effectively when your trip does not go as planned. The River Rescue and River Rescue Advanced courses have been developed by professionals for guides and river runners like you. Each course allows you to put the material we teach you into practice on the water. 

River Rescue Certification

Duration: 2 Days (16 Hours Instruction)

Certification: River Rescue Certification // Sierra Rescue International

Prerequisites: swimming ability, basic river skills

River Rescue is a dynamic curriculum specifically written for river guides, private boaters, and kayakers, taking a river rescue course for the first time. Because of the hands on and practical nature of the course, basic river skills are a prerequisite. We emphasize identifying hazards, thinking through rescues, and rescuing yourself and other river runners. This course addresses the river rescue needs of rafters, cat boaters, kayakers, pack rafters, canoeists, river boarders and SUP paddlers playing and working in remote settings with limited access to technical rescue equipment.

River Rescue Certification Advanced/Professional

Duration: 2 Days (16 Hours Instruction)

Certification: River Rescue Certification Advanced/Professional // Sierra Rescue International

Prerequisites: River Rescue Certification (or equivalent certification)

This two day course builds upon the skills learned in River Rescue. River Rescue Advanced course concentrates on further developing advanced water rescue skills, including advanced entrapment techniques, complex rescues in bigger rapids,  as well access issues such as basic raising and lowering techniques. Through challenging scenarios and drills, it emphasizes victim rescue and recovery. The pro course sharpens rescue skills taught in River Rescue in more challenging and hazardous environments. Skills assessment takes place throughout the course with final testing at the end of the course for those wanting the Pro certification.

River Rescue Advanced is the standard for expedition and trip leaders around the world.
